More specifically\,  Florian Mai from ZBW presented the full paper “Using Deep Learning for Title-Based Semantic Subject Indexing to Reach Competitive Performance to Full-Text” on Tuesday\, June 5\, in the session on text collections.Florian’s talk showed that for scientific digital libraries automatic subject indexing methods based on the title of a publication can be as good as or even better than the full-text-based methods by leveraging the surplus of data available to train powerful neural network models. Using titles only is important as this information is usually freely available while full-text may be subject to license.Tobias Backes from GESIS presented the full paper “Effective Unsupervised Author Disambiguation with Relative Frequencies” on Tuesday\, June 5\, in the session on exploring and analyzing collections. Tobias’s talk presented the problem of author name homonymy in the Web of Science and introduced a novel probabilistic similarity measure for author name disambiguation based on feature overlap.

Dr. Angela Fessl from KC\, presented the MOVING platform including the two widgets for providing adaptive training support. Her presentation included not only how meaningful reflection guidance can be applied in order to motivate people to improve their own search behaviour\, but also how guidance can be provided to follow a pre-defined learning path through a curriculum to improve the own competence on information literacy.

SUMMARY:Open Science Conference and Barcamp Open Science
DESCRIPTION:The Open Science Conference 2018 is dedicated to the Open Science movement on research data management and on FAIR data principles. The conference provided a unique forum for researchers\, librarians\, practitioners\, infrastructure provider\, policy makers\, and other important stakeholders to discuss and exchange their ideas and experiences. MOVING project participated by having a stand with demos and videos at the main congress exhibition hall during the first day of the event. The MOVING project and the platform were presented by Thomas Köhler from TUD and Iacopo Vagliano from ZBW. The MOVING stand featured MOVING fliers and a smart screen to demo the latest version of the MOVING platform. In addition\, visiting cards with a QR code and a special link to the platform was distributed to encourage people to try the platform themselves and possibly acquire new users.

SUMMARY:MOVING satellite event @ 2nd World OER Congress 2017
DESCRIPTION:This congress examined solutions to meeting the challenges of mainstreaming OER practices in education systems worldwide; Showcased the world´s best practices in OER policies\, initiatives and experts and provided recommendations for the mainstreaming of OER with links to best practices. MOVING participated in the “2nd World OER Congress” in Ljubljana\, Slovenia on 18-20 September 2017 by organising the satellite event titled “Technologies for OER and Open Education”\, which aimed to improve the innovative capacity of the European society (information literacy\, information management and knowledge management) and by having a stand with demos and videos at the main congress exhibition hall throughout the duration of the congress \n

SUMMARY:Enabling Space
DESCRIPTION:Enabling Space is an industry-oriented event organised by the SFG (Steirische Wirtschaftsförderung). KC hosted this event at their headquarters in Graz\, Austria\, giving the participants the possibility to learn more about their Big Data support services and their research function. Among the services that were presented the consortium partner KC had the opportunity to present the MOVING platform and the ATS widget.

SUMMARY:Digitale Woche Kieleek
DESCRIPTION:The main objective of the first edition of Kiel’s Digital Week was to promote digitalisation as an everyday reality and creating prospects for the future. The event took place all throughout the city and more than 260 events offered a one-of-a-kind forum with a wide range of topics in the latest technologies. Till Blume from ZBW had the opportunity to give a talk about the MOVING project generally and about the research results conducted in it. He also presented the current MOVING platform prototype in the context of the Kiel’s Digital week.
